September Race Round-Up

Can someone put the brakes on the month of August? Everyday since mid August I have planned to sit down to get the September Race Round-Up together but here it is now August 31st and it is just now getting done. I guess it is a good sign that it is STILL August but I am cutting it pretty close this time around.

September always seems to be a busy time in the race world and here is what is going on around the area:

Do not be surprised to see the wrong time on the clock.. it is all part of the prediction race fun! To register visit: https://www.seashorestriders.com/race-schedule/27th-last-blast-prediction-5k
  • 38th Mike Sterling 10k/5k, Crisfield, MD. Come down to the Crisfield City Dock to participate in either the 10k or 5k that is part of  the National Hard Crab Derby. The course is fast and flat and runs thru the City of Crisfield as well as neighborhoods and along the waterfront outskirts. The race runs through the Wild Quail Community and has a few perks like free child care to watch your kiddos while you run, as well as a Kiddie K that takes place right before the 9AM 5k start time. The post race party includes lots of refreshments and Italian Water Ice! The race benefits BIAD which is associated with Brain Injury. If you have never run this race it is a must-do event at the beach! It has been a few years since I have run the race but it will be one that I get back to in the next few years. To register visit: http://www.races2run.com/events/bottle-cork-ten-miler/

Saturday, September 16th:

  • Ronald McDonald House of DE 5k, Irish Eyes, Lewes, DE. This race is bound to be awesome simply because of the honorary Race Starter, Garrett Rogers. His story is absolutely amazing and to see just how far he has come since getting hit by a car has been so humbling yet motivating to many. The community has rallied to support to him as he continues to get stronger each day and I know this race will only be a testament to that. The race begins at 8:30 AM with the kiddie k starting at 8:15. To register, visit: http://rmhd.convio.net/site/TR/Events/General?pg=entry&fr_id=1111

This race runs through the fabulous Bayside community (my go-to running place) and the race kicks off the celebration of the new Auquatics Center. When registering you also will receive a $15.00 gift card to the bayside Cove bar & Grille. The race starts at 8:30. To register visit: https://runsignup.com/Race/DE/Selbyville/LINKtotheBAY5K

Friday, September 22nd:

Saturday, September 23rd:

Sunday, September 24th:

  • Dogfish Dash 8k… While the registration for this race is closed and literally was only open for a handful of minutes be sure to mark your calendar for April 1st at noon  when the 2018 registration will be open! For those of you running this year– ENJOY.

Friday, September 29th:

Saturday, September 30th:

  • Believe in Tomorrow 5k, Bethany Beach, DE. Believe in Tomorrow races have been taking place for the past years all over the resort area and this year it will be in Bethany Beach, starting and ending at or near the Band Stand. Believe in Tomorrow is such a great program to help so many families that I urge you to come out and support the cause anyway you can! With all these races to pick from you can keep those feet moving all month long! Wishing you all many happy and fast miles as you race through the month of September!
