Reviewing products is one major perk of having a running blog. I have been fortunate enough to test out clothing, running gear (headphones and nutrition products) and most recently a few different products from EatSmart. The first item I reviewed was the Digital Kitchen Food Scale, next up was the Digital Food Thermometer, and now I am trying out the Precision GetFit Digital Body Fat Bathroom Scale.
Right out of the box I was excited for this digital scale. It looked so sleek and with the basic set up directions I knew it would be easy to use right away! After putting in the batteries, placing the scale on a hard surface I was ready to check out my weight just like that!
I already knew the scale could give me more than just a quick read of my body weight just based off the name of the product. In order to take advantage of all the features of the GetFit Scale I quickly and easily set up my user profile. To set up the user profile (that the scale with automatically recognize the next time I use it) all I had to do was press the “set” button and enter some basic info using the arrows on the scale. Here are some of the basic items I had to enter when setting up my profile:
- Profile Number (The scale can hold up to 8 personal profiles)
- Age
- Weight
When setting up the profile be sure to check out the owners manual because there is some information that allows you to customize your profile more and change your setting to an athletic adult versus a standard adult.
Now that my profile was all set up I was ready for the BIA (bio-electrical impedance analysis) to do its magic. This analysis technology can calculate body fitness, which includes body fat percentage, percentage of total body water, muscle mass percentage and bone mass. This technology sends a low-level electrical signal through your body and then measures the resistance the signal encounters. The signal is perfectly safe and will not be felt. The lower the body fat, the faster the signal will travel. As the signal is traveling and the scale is calculating it will show small little circle-like figures on the LCD screen. To activate these features all you have to do is remain on the scale after it registers your weight. If you can see beyond my 32 week pregnant belly the scale has an additional number at the bottom, that was one of the body fitness readings.
While your weight on a scale does not define you or where you currently are in your fitness journey this scale offers much more than just one number to attach to yourself. To learn more about the GetFit bathroom scale be sure to check out the EatSmart Website or Amazon to purchase your own!
The owners manual has lots of helpful hints and I would recommend taking some time to look through the information on how to get the most accurate readings as well as how to troubleshoot if you happen to run into some problems. Be sure to check out EatSmart on their social media sites as well- they often post helpful graphics no matter where you are on your fitness journey!
