July Race Round-Up

July is due to make its appearance at the end of the week which means it is time for a brand new race round-up. When I think about July I obviously think fireworks, beach, bbq and 4th of July Races!! Here is what is going on in July:

Saturday, July 1st:

18th Freedom 5k Run/Walk/Roll, 9AM- Dover, Delaware. This 5k takes place at Silver Lake Park and is a double loop course. There will be a kiddie k starting at 8:50 which is free to all kids! The race benefits the Veterans Trust Fund and if you decide to run, walk or roll you may just see the whole Jonesin’ For a Run crew! 27th Beach Paper Firecracker 5k Run & Walk, 7:30 AM, Grove Park- Rehoboth Beach. This out and back loop runs downs the shaded streets of Rehoboth with a slight view of the beach on Surf Ave along the way. Sunday, July 2nd:

14th Outlet Liquors at the Ivy 5k, 8AM, The Ivy- Dewey Beach. This race is part of the popular Ten Sisters of Dewey Beach Road Race Series. The race starts at 8, with registration opening at 7. The out and back course runs through the residential area of Dewey and hopefully some neighbors will remember to turn their sprinklers on for you! To register visit www.races2run.com

27th Dave Reynolds Swim/Run Biathlon, 8AM-Rehoboth Beach. Visit the Seashore Strider website for more information about this event!

Monday, July 3rd:

Christmas in July 5k, 8AM, American Legion Post 17- Lewes, DE. There are so many things about this race that I just cannot wait to experience. To start- it is Christmas themed! This inaugural event encourages participants to wear your Christmas colors, Santa hats, or other holiday apparel and to keep your eyes out for the elves throwing candy canes on the course! Along with the fun 5k, there is a holiday party after the race featuring: Lewes Dairy Egg Nog, Ice cream, Christmas Cookies, Chocolate Milk, subs and other items. You can have your picture taken with Santa and play in some of the kid games! There is also a kiddie k starting at 7:45 so this event really does have something for everyone! Tuesday, July 4th:

Ocean Pines Freedom 5k, 8AM, Veterans Memorial Park-Ocean Pines, MD. This race is family-friendly and as you finish you will see the flags of each Military branch on the Veterans Memorial. Wear your Red,White and Blue and enjoy the waterslides, carnival games, face painting and a dunking booth after your run! 2nd Annual Red White & Blue 5k, 7:30AM, Rehoboth Beach Country Club. This races2run event features a kiddie k starting at 7:25 with the 5k starting at 7:30. Wear your patriotic colors and mayeb win a special award! To register visit: http://www.races2run.com/events/red-white-blue-5k/

Saturday, July 8th:

8th Kelly J. Fritchman Memorial 5k, 8AM, Irish Eyes-Lewes, DE. Kick off the morning cheering for the kiddie k at 7:50 with the 5k following at 8. This race benefits the Kelly J. Fritchman Swimming Scholarship. Check out www.races2run.com for more specifics of the morning.

Sunday, July 9th:

11th Dewey Beach Liquors at the Ivy 5k, 8AM, The Ivy- Dewey Beach. Another race in the Ten Sisters Series starting at 8am and running the residential streets of Dewey Beach. Visit www.races2run.com to register or learn more. 

Saturday, July 15th:

10th Race for the Ribbon 5k, 7:30 AM, Rehoboth Beach. The 5k starts and finishes on the corner of Wilmington Avenue and the Boardwalk and the after party is being held at the Greene Turtle. Sunday, July 16th:

35th Seashore 5 Mile Run, 7:30 AM, Deauville Beach- Rehoboth Beach. This 5 mile run takes you through beautiful Henolopen Acres and other streets of Rehoboth. This race will push you past your 5k plato! To sign up visit: www.seashorestriders.com 

Saturday, July 22nd:

15th Dewey Beach Patrol 10k/5k, 8AM, The Ivy- Dewey Beach. Both races take off at 8AM and the 10k runners will earn themselves a finisher medal when they cross the finish line. To register visit: www.races2run.com

Sunday, July 23rd:

20th Run for J.J. 5k Run, 7:30 AM, Stuart Kingston-Rehoboth Beach. This 5k  runs through the residential area of Henlopen Acres and starts and finishes at Stuart Kingston which is located on the North End of the Rehoboth Boardwalk. To register visit: www.seashorestriders.com

Saturday, July 29th:

34rd Dam Mill 5k Run, 7:30 AM, Cupola Park- Millsboro, DE. Register early and secure your tank (instead of the traditional t shirt) and run through the streets of Millsboro. This race starts and ends at Cupola Park. To learn more visit: www.seashorestriders.com 

Sunday, July 30th: 

15th The College Day 5k, 8AM, North Beach Restaurant- Dewey Beach. Put on your college colors and come out to run the College Day 5k! There is a kiddie k at 7:50 with the 5k starting at 8. To register visit: www.races2run.com

Another month filled with lots of races to choose from! Please add any races or events I missed in the comments below! I am hoping to make it to a few of these races even though I won’t be moving very fast! Enjoy your last few days of June and hope to see some of you at the starting line!
