Grilling out is one of my favorite ways to cook for a few different reasons- first most of the mess is OUTSIDE which means easy clean up and second the kids can play outside and I can keep an eye on them as they are run around, play in the sand box or the swing set! It is a win-win for everyone! Chad also likes to get involved in the grilling action and it usually becomes quite the family affair.
Last month I was able to test out and review the EatSmart Digital Food Scale and through FitFluential I was able to work with EatSmart again and try the digital food thermometer. I do think Chad was more excited than I was to open the package for the thermometer because as often as we grill, perfectly cooking the protein was something we both struggle with.
A few weeks ago we had burgers on the grill and if there is one grilled food item that I cannot handle being under cooked it is a hamburger (and chicken of course). Chad and I were both bummed as my burger was way underdone and really needed much more time on the grill. We did not have the EatSmart Thermometer yet but he mentioned how great it would be to have a food thermometer to ensure our grilled food was getting fully cooked. We are both guilty of doing the spot check for meat temperature when grilling, which often turns into whatever we are cooking getting cut up and sometimes falling apart. A few weeks later the thermometer arrived and we were ready to put it to the test!
Out of the box the thermometer was ready to go and easy to use! One of my favorite things about the thermometer- besides the fact that it is digital, is that the lid has suggested cooking temps right on there! Chad’s main concern of the thermometer was not knowing what temps he would need to be looking for. He was relieved and excited when he saw it was right there ready for him to reference! We were able to cook our sirloin steak with no problem and had the perfect medium temperature we were looking for thanks to our new thermometer!
Just as the EatSmart Website says, using the thermometer is so easy! To use, all you do is simply insert the 1.5 mm stainless-steel probe into the thickest part of the meat for about 10 seconds you have an accurate internal temp of the food! Some other features are:

- Hold Feature of temperature reading
- Auto-calibrated and Auto-shut off after 5-minutes
- Great price of 19.95!!
