Catching Back Up + May Wrap Up

As you may have noticed I fell off the monthly wrap-up wagon. Things just got so busy, I got the flu, spring break happened and blogging didn’t. I am hoping with Summer break about to make an appearance I can post more regularly but don’t count on that. Life happens and you can follow a much more detailed summary on instagram (@kstewjones)!

To recap the past few months:

March: 57 miles, Tim Kennard Ten MilerDallas Rock n Roll Half marathon and trip to visit my best friend in Texas, meetings, appointments ??? March feels like a lifetime ago!

April: barely any miles (29), positive flu test, spring break road trip to Florida, Cheering runners at the Island to Island half and the Coastal Delaware Half Marathon.

Which brings us to May:

May has been a much, much better month for me healthy-wise and running! So far I have logged 66 miles with at least a mile planned for tomorrow. I decided to take a stab at the Runners World #RWRunStreak which spans from Memorial Day to 4th of July. While I usually tucker out and do not finish the streak, I am going to do my best to stick to it and log at least a mile for the next 37 days. You can read more about it at

AM run

I have been consistently sticking to my 2 morning runs a week with my AM running partners which have been fabulous. Waking up at a time that is ridiculous (4:15-4:20 AM) is silly but it is such a good feeling knowing that my run for the day is done and I can spend the afternoon with the kids and do things I enjoy like plant my flowers and work in my garden!

I also ran my last spring half marathon, in May- the St. Michaels Running Festival Half. It was a great race and you can check out the full recap here if you did not read it before.

Along with the St. Michaels Half, I also ran (if you can call it that at this point) in the Run to Remember 5k this past Saturday. This race, put on by Wicomico County Parks & Rec. I signed up knowing it was a trail run AND that I would be pushing the kids in the duallie BOB jogging stroller, but man was that a hard race for me. I have not really been pushing the kids much while running so between that, the weight of the kids and the trails it was super HARD. Every time I would stop and take a walk break my kids would say “Mommy run faster, everyone is beating us!!!” I kept telling them how hard it was for me but they kept on encouraging me and also started cheering for the other runners that we would see along the course. One positive of taking 38 minutes to run the 5k was that I was able to get a great finish line photo taken by one of my friends, Kerri! Look how serious Tanner is as he is about to cross the finish line- I just love it!

One other highlight for the month has been my Acaii Berry Bowl obsession. This bowl of goodness has made my past few weekends complete! Not only are they so pretty to look at, they taste so good! If you are in Salisbury be sure to check them out at Rise up or if visiting the beach go to 3B Cafe in Bethany Beach! You will not be disappointed and you may even see me there getting my fix!

I also was able to complete a craft project this month, inspired by MilePosts! I have sorted through some of my old race bibs and kept the ones that were important but the hooks on my medal rack were getting filled so I decided to modge podge some of my bibs to a canvas! I am really pleased the way it came out and will hopefully get it hung up this weekend!

May has definitely been a good month as you can see, filled with lots of fun activities! What was your favorite part of May? Any special races or events?

Forward is a Pace 🙂

My only two events for June will be to complete my Virtual Zooma Race (You can still donate to Every Mother Counts here!) and the rescheduled Run at Trap Pond 5k! My pace pretty much matches this little snail I saw on my run yesterday but forward is a pace and that is what I plan on telling myself for the rest of the spring and and into summer running!

What do you have planned for June?
