Roses, chocolates, cards, jewelry, hearts, and love are all about to take over. To be honest I love it. I love when people are in love and do sweet things for each other. Of course it is sweet when cute things are done without the Hallmark Holiday involved but regardless just like smiling, love can at times be contagious. I know there are many that cannot stand Valentine’s Day but unlike the Christmas or Halloween season that seem to take over the stores forever Valentine’s Day seems to come and go fairly quickly. I like to enjoy it while it is here!
One other sign of the season is Valentine’s Day themed races! In typical Jonesin’ For a Run Fashion I will be sharing with you two local Valentine’s Day races and some go-to gifts for your runner.
First up- the races. Both races are the same weekend so you can run your heart out at the Saturday and Sunday races. First let’s start with the Chocolate Lovers 5k!
Chocolate Lovers 5k takes place on Saturday, February 11th starting at 10:00 am at the Dover Delaware Technical Community College campus. This is a well attended race and well worth the drive to Dover if you like (maybe even love) chocolate. The single loop race course and chipped time are great but the full blown chocolate after party is the real main attraction. The ace also features a Kiddie K starting at 9:50 for any little loves that want to join in on the racing action. If you are running as a couple be sure to sign up for the couple option when you register to enter the couple category! 15th Valentine’s Day 5k takes place in Sunday, February 12th starting at the Cape Henlopen State Park Fish Pier at 10:00 am. This out and back race runs along the paved bike trail, up to the dune overlook. While most races at the beach are flat, this one takes up you up a small hill to enjoy the beautiful beach sights! Now onto the gifts! When it comes to Valentine’s Day gifts for your runner there are few items that are ALWAYS on my list like: Sparkly Soul Headbands, Momentum Jewelry (I also LOVE their new shirts added to their product line) running a race with your valentine, or by surprising your valentine with race photos from a recent race.
Some other ideas that your love is sure to love:
- Spa gift certificate- think pedicure, massage, or maybe BOTH!
- A new running watch or fitness tracker
- Road ID band- they have quite a selection now and your runner will know you love AND care about their safety if you gift them a road ID band
- Rock my Run subscription
- Stridebox subscription
- Pointonemiles Run Heart Shirt
- Something unique from www.goneforarun.com
Do you have a unqiue gift to give to your runner on Valentine’s Day? Do you have a favorite Valentine’s Day 5k?
