Jimmy’s Running Diary: Part 2

Picking up right where we left off yesterday… Week 2 of Jimmy’s Running Diary

But first, the backstory…

There’s nothing better than a being stuck in the house during a snowstorm to make you want to clean everything, organize your out of control closet, and go through your nightstand drawers.  The amount of stuff that collects in or around my nightstand is truly out of control.  During my cleaning spree, I did not realize that I would come across this little gem….

Diary 1

That’s right – Jimmy’s Running Diary from 2010.  Back before everything was digital and in an app format, people used to actually buy running diaries to track their running progress.  I remember buying this diary for Jimmy; however, I do not remember him actually using it.  I was getting ready to throw it away – but something told me to look inside.  Page by page I flipped through the diary, realizing not only is Jimmy athletic and sporty – but he is also super funny.   So please enjoy the following few posts courtesy of Jimmy circa 2010 when he was training for the Baltimore Half Marathon.

January 10, 2010

Distance: 1 Mile

Time: 10 Minutes

Notes: Felt good. Took Jack3d and felt it. Did chest and triceps and killed it. Hoping that if I keep working my glamour muscles I might have more motivation to run.  Went for a quick mile today. Will try and do 2 tomorrow.

 

January 11, 2010

Distance: 1 mile

Time: 12 minutes

Notes: Just ran today.  Wasn’t really feeling the working out part. I think I am gonna start weighing myself February 1.  I think I am going to start hearing the scale scream in pain February 1st.

 

January 12, 2010

Distance: 1 Mile

Time: 11:30 minutes

Notes: Ran a little, thought about burritos, then did another 10 minutes on the elliptical.  Did some ab/back work. Took Jack3d and felt good again. Quit working out early to hit up Chipotle – that line always takes forever.  I did not get double meat or extra cheese.

January 13, 2010

Distance: 0

Time: 0

Notes: Thought about working out, and then thought about napping.  The nap won.  I will hit the gym hard tomorrow.

 (Not sure what happened between January 13th and 21st)

January 22, 2010

Rating: Very good

Distance: 1 mile

Time: 10 minutes

Notes: Crushed it at the gym today and also at dinner with pasta.  Gotta carbo-load, that half marathon is 8 months away.  Did 1.5 miles on the elliptical and a mile on the treadmill.

 

January 23, 2010

Rating: Very good

Notes: Did 30 minutes on the elliptical today and did Courtney’s workout.  She worked the $hit out of me.  Between yesterday and today I am gonna be pretty sore tomorrow.

 

February 14, 2010

Distance: 4 miles

Time: 45 Minutes

Notes: Ran 2 miles, came home and rested while Court finished only for her to come home and tell me she wanted to do 2 more so I ran 2 more at her pace.  Never did 2 miles straight before especially at her pace.  BEAST MODE!

 

Don’t you just LOVE the progress he is making?!  And personally, I love the fact that he can admit that I kicked his butt in the gym. (Although he would never admit this to my face.)  Stay tuned to find out about the rest of his training plan and find out if he ever completes that half marathon.
