To once again celebrate one of my favorite days I took to my interview questions that I used last year. It is great to take a few minutes and see where running has taken me since last June. You can read last year’s interview here– do not be surprised if some answers are very similar, while others are completely different. So here we go— National Running Day Interview 2015:
1. Why do you run?
This year it is hard for me to answer this. I run because I want to. I run because I feel so much better and happier once I do. I run to think and clear my mind. I run simply because that is what I want to do.
2. How do you plan to celebrate National Running Day?
Like last year I plan to order some new shoes. Fingers crossed I can find some of my favorite Sauconys on sale- and of course GO FOR A RUN!
3. How many miles have you run so far this year?
4. What big events do you have on the race calendar so far this year?
This fall I have 3 Half Marathons planned, along with the Dogfish Dash 8k that is at the end of September. Sam better get ready for a picture because I have a pretty impressive streak going on with him (3 years and counting) !
This year I am super excited to be going back to Baltimore to be running the Half that is part of the Baltimore Running Festival. I was lucky enough to win a free entry through the Cherry Blossom Virtual Goodie bag!
I will also be heading back to Annapolis for my favorite half marathon-the Annapolis Running Classic. There is a group of us all running it and I cannot wait to see who else joins us! Not only is the race absolutely beautiful- the after party is amazing! Yes it can be kinda chilly but the grilled oyster and hot soup will warm you up and if that does not do the trick a little dancing to the awesome band may help!
The 3rd half I signed up for is the Rehoboth Half Marathon. While this race has been going on for some time I have never participated in it. I signed up for this back on New years Eve when the registration was dirt cheap. This is a local race for me and will conclude my year of “keeping it local”.
5. Before I leave for a run you must have:
Again probably very similar to last year:
Sparkly Soul Headband they just really are the best headbands ever.
Cell Phone to Track my Run on Runkeeper/Music
BOB Double if my little stroller buddies are with me
6. Do you have one favorite app to track your runs?
Still RunKeeper. I love being able to see what my friends are up to, cheer them up and have a training plan all in one place!
7. Who is your favorite running partner?
While my sister (Courtney) is still my #1 I also found a Best Running Friend- Lacee. Without her I would have never finished my marathon or logged nearly as many miles as I have- especially those long runs. I also am really into group runs right now and planning to meet others. I have found it keeps me so much more accountable! Of course I also enjoy the company of my little ones!
8. What races have you ran so far this year?
Lots of different and interesting races so far this year:
- Tim Kennard 10 miler
- Shamrock Shuffle 15k
- BunnyPalooza 10k
- Cherry Blossom 10 Miler
- Island to Island Half Marathon
- St. Michaels Half Marathon
Hoping to add a few local 5k races in since they are plentiful in this area during the summer.
9. If you had to give someone one piece of advice about running what would it be?
While last year I said sign up for a race I now think finding a running partner or a running group is important. The connections you make are truly one of a kind! You can definitely learn a lot about a person when you run with them!
10. Describe your relationship with running in one word:
