Well here we go again…. This will be my last “long” race of the spring. Actually after St. Michaels my race calendar is empty till the fall. While I do enjoy that feeling it also stirs up a little bit of fear that my mileage may dip down. Maybe I will take the summer months and work on my 5k time???
After last year’s St. Michaels Half Marathon I said I really had no desire to return to this race. While the overall event was great, the course was boring. Apparently many others felt the same way because they have completely revamped the course this year! I was asked to be am ambassador again and I had a great response with people that signed up using my unique code. One of the perks of being an ambassador is getting a free entry into the race. I do not know about you- but I cannot turn down a free race entry! I am trained and ready to go as I ran the Island to Island Half a few weeks ago. Since that race I have been taking it easy and have not done any long runs. I think my legs are thanking me and I hope they are refreshed and ready to go on Saturday!
This year Laura and Teen will be joining me at the race. I feel so honored being able to run and hang with two of the original hot moms! You can check out their Hot-Mom Interviews in the Gallery! We already have our plan to meet up, head to packet pick up and grab dinner at a small little restaurant in a town nearby (I do not want to give out all the details yet) on Friday afternoon. Race day will start early since we have to get into the town of St. Michaels before things get all crazy from the race. Things went smoothly with this last year so fingers crossed for the same this year. Plan is in place.. now just to enjoy the race!
As for race goals.. Honestly I just want to make an awesome playlist, enjoy the new race course and simply finish and get that bling! I know that sounds kinda boring but that is what I am aiming for! I feel like lately I have been a mental head case while running and that is exactly what I do not want to happen this weekend. I am looking forward to a night away, trying out a cute little restaurant along with some quality girl time- oh and running 13.1 miles!
Have you ever returned to a race after swearing it off? What are your plans to stay motivated this summer?
