Lately I feel like I’ve been on a binge of eating bad food! No I have not been eating super sized Big Macs but I have been indulging on whatever I can get my hands on! I have always believed that you should not deny yourself a treat but I do not think that pints of Ben and Jerry’s and chocolate chip cookies on the daily are ok. I have fallen into this junk food/ diet soda/ dairy binge and it has got to go! Someone posted a question on Twitter the other day asking how losing weight would affect your running: I said that it would absolutely effect it- not because you would weigh less, but because everything is connected—- eating good, becoming more fit, feeling better, having more energy. It is all a packaged deal and I am ready to get back on the train to healthy town!
Unfortunately eating bad has multiple side effects on me: constant belly bloat, never ending sweet cravings, grumpy mood, bad sleep, zero desire to exercise- seriously I could go on but I will spare you.
I do not know about you but I am tired of feeling and dealing with all of those side effects! This almost sounds like it is going to be an infomercial…. do not worry- its not- I have nothing to sell!
This week I took my meal prep/ menu planning to the next level and made sure to plan for healthy meals instead of convenient meals.
Here is what I have been up to in the kitchen today:
Hard Boiled Eggs (school snack)
Grilled Chicken Breasts (To top my salad for lunch at school)
Shrimp and Vegetable Stir Fry (Dinner) to served with Brown Rice
I also have the following meals planned for this week:
Baked Chicken with Lemony Asparagus
Ground Chicken Taco Salad served with avocado
South Western Chopped Chicken Salad
Things to avoid this week:
Dairy
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Soda
Caffeine
What I plan to do more of:
Drink Water
Do some kind of exercise everyday- no matter what!
Stop eating before I feel stuffed!!!!
So there you have it. A new week is here tomorrow and I am very thankful for the reset that is coming my way. I am looking forward to eating better and feeling better!
Now it is time to pray for NO MORE SNOW!!
Is there anything in particular that you have been struggling with?
Do you have a set of go-to healthy meals that you want to share with me?
Do you look as cute as Tanner when you eat your carrots?
Kristen, I can meal plan my way to the end of earth and I still eat crap LOL or binge…not fast food, but I will break down and make brownies for the family and find myself heading into the kitchen and taking a bit here and there, until I have eaten half the baking dish! My biggest struggle ever has always been my sweet tooth…Not baked goods, but candy..I make an effort to always have carrots, celery and even cucumber sliced and ready to go in a container to grab and snack on when I am bored. Even little cherry tomatoes have been a great go to. I love the look of your blog by the way 🙂 super cute

I try my best to stay away from the “treat” aisles at the store. If I buy it, I eat it so I just do not even tempt myself. In the summer when I am home more I try to have fresh veggies as well that are easy to grab or pack for the beach!

It’s so true- junk leads to more junk… and even though you don’t feel good on it, it’s hard to break the cycle. Looks like you’ll be getting back on track!
